When the sun goes down...

went to Grand Haven. (yes, again. hey its nice out there)
This time I had my camera, so there are pictures (note new header pic).
It was a cooler night, but still nice. I was comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt, which meant that most normal people were a bit chilly.

Life's a dance

you learn as you go.
Yup.

For the first time in what seems like a long time, I had a really good day that didnt involve a LAN Party.

Oh, and Friday at Meijer's, I found both of the first 2 Harry Potter films on uber-clearance for $5 each. So whilst I am not a Potter-head by any means, I enjoyed the movies, so I bought em.

Outside of that, nothing really post-worthy happened since I last posted. I went to work(blah), came back from work(meh), talk on the phone =), and sometimes played a computer game(fun).

Till next time,
take care, whom ever might read this...

Who needs pictures...

With a memory like mine. Great song.

Remember how in the last post I mentioned I had rigged up an exhaust system on my van? It seems my van has an aversion to being quiet. A few days ago as I was going to work the 7 foot section of pipe I had on there decided to abandon ship. at 80 MPh on US-131 South neat the I-96 interchange. Im just lucky it didnt take out my two rear tires when I ran it over. two flats + one spare = problem. The new version of exhaust pipe I attached is not a 7 foot straight shot out the back. Its only about 3 foot now, and makes a sharp right and exits out the side, under the sliding door.

Yeah... Anyhow.

My 200 Gig Hard Drive that serves as my D:\ drive and holds basically everything is still fully functional. Last week it had decided to make me sweat. I was just minding my own buisness, and all of a sudden I hear this "gzzzzzzcktclick" sound.(yes it sounded just like that...) Immediately followed by a STOP! screen(Xp's blue screen). Upon reboot, neither of my hard drives could be detected by my motherboard. For those who dont know, my drive setup is that I have a 20 GB C: system drive that has WinXP plus other programs that I deemed essential, like MS Office 11 and such. I have that cloned onto a second 20Gig that sits on a shelf as a spare. I was concerned with some of the data on my D: drive though, as some is not yet backed up. Ok so its just some movies and games, so while not mission critical, Id miss them if I lost 'em. Not to mention a fairly new 200 Gig. It turns out that after hours of troubleshooting the drives, that a loose power connector was to blame. I had the power to my D: coming in through a "piggy back" connector that powered my exhaust fan that lets my Video card stay cooler. Problem fixxed. And its still stable on a 300 MHz OverClock in this heat too. So I am happy for that.

I also have a new VCR. Not top quality cuz I cant afford it, but its a JVC and its HiFi, so thats good. And it does not hunger for video tapes. Also a plus. My DVD drive is still my computer for now, a purpose it also serves well. It also dishes out DiVX, .avi's, .mpeg's to a second 17" monitor I have sitting atop my floor model TV. So to watch a movie on that I enable nView and use my second monitor connector and about 25 foot extensions to make the monitor and speaker cables reach thier destination across the room. Yeah, its the redneck way to do it, but consider the source...
I made it about an hour and a half into my maiden voyage of Lord of the Rings 1(behind the times, i know) before I dozed off. Some other day I guess...

That is all.
have fun.
