Gentlemen start your engines!
Its racing season again! President Bush even gave the command to start engines! And it got off to a good start as far as I am concerned. As I have previously mentioned, I am a big NASCAR fan, and an Earnhardt fan. Dale Earnhardt Jr. won todays Daytona 500. For all non racing fans, the Daytona 500 is to NASCAR what the Super Bowl is to football. It was as if Jr was pre-destined to win today. His late father, Dale Sr., drove the #3 car. He died *3* years ago in that same race. in 1998, *3* years earlier still, he won the 500. The '98 race was held on Febuary 15th, just like today... Its kinda like in 2001, Kevin Harvick, the guy who replaced Dale (they atleast changed it from #3 to #29) he won in his 3rd race in that car, which was unheard of for a rookie to come in and win right off the bat.
My new header pic is representitive of how the myriad of Earnhardt fans felt after we heard the news back in 2001. no, I didnt draw it...
Also, LAN in 2 weeks! looking forward to testing out this new "super computer" that i have. And testing out its built in Gigabit Ethernet card. =) oh yeah, it'll be fun.
Looking forward to playing Battlefield 1942 and its expansions / mods, Call of Duty, maybe Medal of Honor, maybe even some UT/UT2003 and CS. Maybe more, maybe less, I'll know once I get there.
Take care all y'all.

Title?
Quick update: i saw this quiz on Zack's site.

Which Colossal Death Robot Are You?
"Check it out, you're an ABC Warrior!
In bars frequented by colossal death robots, you're always the quiet guy at the back who no-one ever bothers. And for good reason. You've fought in several nuclear wars, could beat the sun in a staring match, and have a chin larger than many articles of furniture. Morals are not a concept you understand, but strangely enough, nobody ever questions your judgement. Usually because they're dead. Even Judge Dredd wets himself when you turn up. Grrrr."
Hehe, I'm one bad dude!

It's been a while...
Continuing the trend, yet another song title.
Figured I would update before I got 2 weeks worth of Friday w00T!'s on the same post...
And in those 2 weeks, I wasnt too overly busy to update, or too lazy. I just didn't. I spent that time playing computer games, and doing "homework". That homework consisted of researching new computer products for purchase come tax time. Thats right, W-2's recieved, taxes done, check recieved. Upgrading done.
therefore, this is coming to you live for the first time from "Hammer" , or "Blue 64", I havent decided yet on a name...
Whats new, you ask? Or, atleast I thought I heard you ask...
Im now running an Athlon 64 3000+, on a Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro Motherboard, with 1 Gig DDR400 RAM. Being powered by a new Antec True Power 480 Watt power supply. Still have the 20Gig hard drive holding the OS and other system stuff, but the Gaming drive is now a 200Gig, up from 60. Still running the GeForce 5700Ultra, Toshiba 16x DVD, Lite-on 48X burner, same blue case. Oh, new 19" Samsung monitor.
It's true, I wasnt going to upgrade my mobo/CPU, but my secondary system, the 1.1 GHz Athlon, had its mobo burn up (not literaly). So, to get a new mobo for it, plus new RAM (since the old one used reg SDRAM, would need to get DDR since new boards use DDR) and maybe a new proc if the old one burnt up too, woulda been not a whole lot cheaper than getting new top level stuff and making my Primary sys the Secondary sys.
So now my Secondary is the Athlon XP 2400+ on the awesome ASUS A7N8X Deluxe mobo, 512 M DDR333, 20G C:, 60G D:, the GeForce 3 Ti500, and my old Viewsonic A75f monitor.
That means I have 2 machines quite capable of running Battlefield 1942 here. and a Network hub =) .
On a different note, the NASCAR season officially kicks off Saturday night with the Budwiser Shootout at Daytona.
That also means that its coming up on 3 years since the death of Dale Earnhardt. I had been a big fan of Earnhardt since the mid 1980's, since I discovered there was racing other than the Indy 500. I started watching NASCAR regularly in the later '80's, when it became more televised. Watching Dale in the #3 Wrangler, then later GM Goodwrench Monte Carlo's, I realized then what I wanted to be when I grew up. A race car driver. This has not come to pass yet, and most likely never will. But hey, I can dream. And play video games. And goto work. I work at a NASCAR simulator store in Rivertown Crossings mall, in Grandville MI. On Monday, Febuary 19, 2001, the day after Dale died, the store that was across the hall, Checker Flag Lightning (they now own my store), had literally hundreds of people waiting outside thier gates an hour before the mall opened. That day my store did not power up the #3 Earnhardt simulator, we let it rest peacefully. I still wear my old #3 hat, still have #3 stickers on my van, I stilll wear the shirts. Heck, I even have a #3 window cling sticker on my computer case window! I still watch NASCAR, and these days I'm pulling for #29 Kevin Harvick, who took over Dale's car after he died, or Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the #8 Budweiser car. And I think about what could be, what coulda been...
well all, im out. good night.
First Friday w00T! to you all!
